Review: Anker PowerCore II Slim 10.000 mAh power bank

If you have been reading my blog for a while you know that I ditched my DSLR and turned to iPhone photography because I love to travel light. So I always strive to slim down and trim down my gear and everyday carry.

Basically, one of the bulky things I still carry with me are the power banks I use. No matter if I’m out shooting or not, a single iPhone 7 plus charge rarely brings me through the day.

Previously, I used two power banks from AmazonBasics, the 10.000 mAh and the 16.100 mAh versions until I found the Anker PowerCore II Slim 10.000 mAh power bank, that replaces the 10.000 mAh version from AmazonBasics.

The Anker PowerCore II Slim worked great for many years. But as I like to get rid of stuff and to reduce the bulk I have to carry, I replaced it with another power bank from Anker. If you're curious, please head to my Anker 521 magnetic battery review

The hard facts of my new slim Anker power bank compared to my previous 10.000 mAh power bank are:

• It’s 24% smaller
• It’s 25% thinner
• When it comes to weight, the Anker power bank is 15% lighter.
• It has the same capacity: 10.000 mAh
• It has only one charging power compared to two charging ports of my previous power bank.

Your mileage may vary, but for me, that’s a win for the Anker PowerCore II Slim power bank. I can easily live without the second charging port.

To give you another idea about the size of the slim Anker power bank:

• The AmazonBasics power bank has almost the size of an iPhone 7 plus
• My new Anker PowerCore II slim power bank has the size of an iPhone 7

Because of its slim form factor, the new Anker power bank perfectly fits into the pocket of my jacket, even while charging my iPhone 7 plus.

Other than that, the Anker Power II Slim Powerbank is pretty straight forward. By pressing a button in the side, 1-4 LEDs will indicate how much power is left in the power bank. So far I’ve managed to charge my iPhone 7 plus three times (starting at 15-20% iPhone battery ) and I’ve still some juice left.
