How to Attach a Wrist Strap to Almost any iPhone Case
In the past decade, I bought a Moment photo case primarily because it allowed me to attach a wrist strap to my iPhone case. However, for my upcoming Ireland trip, I looked a more budget-friendly option for my companion. She only required a wrist strap for the duration of the road trip and would not have further use for it.
In this blog post, I’ll share what I’ve found and how you can add a wrist strap for a few dollars to almost any iPhone case.

Why I looked for an alternative for the Moment case
My companion didn't want to spend 50 dollars just to attach a wrist strap to her iPhone case for two weeks. So, I tried to find a cheaper case with wrist strap support but couldn’t find one.
But I found something else that enables you to attach a wrist strap to almost any iPhone case: phone tether tabs.
Phone tether tabs for attaching a wrist strap
What I found doesn’t have any brand or official product name yet. Some call it silicone phone case inlays. Others call it a Cellphone lanyard tether tab. Others simply call it phone tether tabs. But let’s take a look at a photo:
At the bottom of the case, you place these tiny, flat (and in my case black) pads and slide the small tab through the charging opening port of your iPhone case. Some tether tabs come with an adhesive that allows you to more securely attach them to your case. Throughout my research, I found phone tether tabs made of silicone and others from alternative materials such as Oxford fabric.
Once you’ve added these inlays to your iPhone case, just snap the case to your phone. Now attach a wrist strap or a lanyard to it.
She carried her phone with a wrist strap for two weeks during our Ireland road trip. Neither did the inlay cause the phone to pop out of the case nor did the small tab, where the wrist strap was attached, tear or rip. It just worked.
As I used a cage solution for photographing with my iPhone during my Ireland trip, I’ve started to use phone tether tabs with an affordable everyday case for my iPhone 16 Pro Max as well for hikes, where I don’t use the cage.
Summary
This is probably the shortest tutorial I’ve ever written. But there’s not much more to say. It’s a simple solution that just works if you ever wanted to attach a wrist strap or lanyard to your phone case. So I recommend buying a bunch of these silicon inlays. They’re sold in packs of two, four or six items. They work with many cases and for about 3–4 dollars you can attach a wrist strap to any case. These phone tether tabs are available from hundreds of sellers. I just linked to a seller from which you can buy the phone tether tabs on Amazon for your convenience.
