German Singer Nena performing at the Danube Island Festival

German singer Nena became quite famous with her Song 99 Luftballons (99 Red Balloons) in 1983, during the era of the Neue Deutsche Welle, a music era that saw a lot of pop songs with German lyrics. The German version of the song reach #2 of the US Billboard charts and the English version of that song climbed to number 1 in the UK charts.

You can listen to Nena's songs on Apple Music.

In 2002, she returned to the stage and had a big hit in 2005 named Willst Du mit mir gehen. In the same year, Nena performed live on the main stage of the Danube Island Festival where she performed a mix of her old and new hits.

Back then, I photographically documented concerts and event for a photo agency here in Vienna.

Like all the other concert photos in the blog, I took it with a DSLR. It was a Nikon D70 that had half of the resolution of an iPhone today: 6 megapixels.

While I deleted many old blog posts from my DSLR era, I kept a few of those as a kind of Pre iPhone Photography portfolio.

During a re-editing frenzy in 2019, I re-edited the concert photo of Nena using Adobe Lightroom Mobile on iPad and I've also published a tutorial about how to convert photos to black and white Lightroom Mobile on iPhone or iPad. It describes the workflow I used for this and all the other concert photos in the blog.
