First attempt to photograph a firework (with a DSLR)
A shot from my first attempt to photograph a firework almost a decade ago. I didn’t carry a tripod with me at that time. So placed my camera on the ground and used small stones to build a small ramp and to point my DSLR upwards. I used a two second timer shot to shoot the firework.
Today I always carry a Joby Gorillapod, no matter if for my DSLR [Amazon Link], point and shoot camera and I even got one for my iPhone [Amazon Link]. It’s small, lightweight and because of it’s flexible legs you can put it around almost anything like a handrail or a street lamp and use almost any object as a “tripod”.
2019 Update: Meanwhile I’ve turned completely to iPhone only photography and I found a way to photograph fireworks with iPhone. Check it out.
